Hi Husband,
I have both the 24L (maybe not quite as perfect as yours but close) and a 16-35L II (maybe better than yours). Any idea if the CONTAX ZEISS DISTAGON 25mm f2.8 T*/W. GERMANY would add anything to my bag besides weight? This is a manual focus Contax/Yashica AE mount lens.
Thanks,
Sam

Do you have any experience with the Olympus OM 24 shift? Is it better than the Canon?

Yes. I do have a test archived making a direct comparison. Sample variation makes it difficult to qualify them in general: the Canons vary wildly, and there are too few Olympus 24 shifts in circulation to assess. However, even the best 24L will be outperformed – when shifted – by the Olympus. Unshifted, there tends to be little difference between them.

I will try for the end of August (having missed July). Lots of other irons in the fire at present!

Compared to the Canon 16-35II, Zone C is better, Zone B isn't, Zone A is about the same. The Zeiss has better colour. Flare resistance and distortion are very similar. The Canon is a bit cheaper.

Will there be a test of the new Nikon 14-24/2.8 AF-S (compared to the Canon 16-35 Mk II) ?

I know it's not possible to test it on a 5D (as it is a G lens) but D3 has about the same pixel count as a 5D so it should be possible to compare on these 2 bodies.

Mark,

Have you any plans to test the newish Nikon 24 PC-E? I've been waiting for someone to do a test, but noone appears to have jumped on it yet?

Thanks for the awesome site! The 14-24 is just god's personal lens, isn't it?

Frank: it's pretty special, no mistake! There are no plan to test the 24PCE at present: there are presently no adaptors that will make it work on a Canon body. If/when there is, we'll be first in the queue . . .
